FAQ

Questions and answers

What is Sideline?
Sideline is a live scoring app for grassroots and school sport. A coach or parent scores the match on their phone, and families who can't be there follow every score live from one link, with a match report afterwards.
Which sports does it work for?
24 sports, including football, basketball, volleyball, cricket, hockey, rugby. Each follows its own rules: halves or quarters, tries and conversions, sets, innings or overs.
Do people following need to download an app or log in?
No. The live page opens in any browser from the link. Only the people scoring sign in.
How much does it cost?
Every team starts with a 30-day free trial of every feature. After that live scoring stays free, and the full plan is US$3.99 a month or US$39.99 a year. A coach, parents or a local sponsor can pay.
Can more than one person score a match?
Yes. Invite other scorers with a link. If two people score at once, Sideline keeps them in step, and it carries on scoring offline when the signal drops.
Is it safe for children?
Team pages are private to people with the link and aren't listed in search engines. Coaches choose how names show to the public: first names, first name and initial, or full names, and family accounts are approved by the team.
Can a whole club or school use it?
Yes. A club or school can run all its teams from one place, share fixtures, run tournaments with a live table and add one sponsor across every team.
How do I try it?
Start a demo match from the homepage in about a minute. There's no sign-up, and you can delete it in one tap.
